Playtraining for Tiny Tots, U6s and U7s

For Tiny Tots, U6 and U7 playtraining involves a circuit area of unmeasured activities such as high jumps to mats, practice hurdles, soft throwing objects and shuttle relays designed to improve athletic skills.

Age Managers are responsible for guiding the children through playtraining in between scheduled events. As the high jump event requires learned skills for the children's safety, it is restricted to jumping onto bags, then using a soft, elastic rope in U6 and U7 and not measured until Under 8 age group. Also, track events are restricted to short distances allowing the children to acquire running techniques and stamina needed for the longer distances.

No points are awarded or measurements taken for Tiny Tots and all receive a medal at season's end. For Under 6's, Hurdles are only measured after the New Year's break in order to allow athletes to receive some training in the first half of the season. Importantly, the number of points required to obtain Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum Improvement Certificates are much reduced. U7's will be timed and measured for Hurdles from the beginning of the season.
